Mercedes J Burnside
Dr Mercedes Burnside is a Paediatric Endocrinology trainee, inspired by the academic and clinical aspects of this specialty. She has developed a particular interest in childhood diabetes, where technologies are emerging at pace, though are fueling inequities. In her holistic view of medicine, Mercedes sees that clinical research is needed to address health inequity. In 2020 she embarked on a fulltime PhD, supervised by Dr Martin de Bock, investigating an open-source automated insulin delivery system.
