Karen L Reader
Karen Lee Reader is a Lecturer in the Department of Pathology at the University of Otago. She completed her PhD in 2014 at the University of Otago and AgResearch, New Zealand, following a career as a research technician studying the oocyte secreted factors, BMP15 and GDF9 in sheep ovaries. Karen’s current research focuses on the function of members of the transforming growth factor beta (TGFB) family, in particular activins, in ovarian and prostate cancer. She also studies the role of oocyte organelles in determining oocyte quality and how these organelles can be manipulated to improve oocyte quality during in vitro maturation.
