Gilli Lewis
I am a Nurse Practitioner in the Wellington Endocrine and Diabetes service, working primarily with children and youth with diabetes. As part of the APEG working group for children and youth with type 2 diabetes, where I aim to help develop resources for children and their families as well as health professionals. As a member of the New Zealand Child and Youth Clinical Network (NZCYCN) reference group for diabetes, I am involved in the development of evidence-based national resources for whānau and health professionals. As part of the New Zealand Society for the Study of Diabetes (NZSSD) Young Adults Special Interest Group, I am involved in work on transition guidelines. A significant part of my role is providing diabetes and health education, to children, youth, and their whānau, but also to other health professionals, and the wider community. One avenue for providing this education is via Diabetes Camps - a resource for children and youth, about which I am passionate.
