Diane Rebourcet

Diane is an emerging biologist in endocrinology and biotechnology at the University of Newcastle (UON). Her research focuses on understanding the mechanisms regulating the reproductive system utilising transgenic mice, viral gene therapy, multi-omics approaches and biotechnologies. Amongst her multiple high impact publications, her seminal 2014 Development paper, utilised cell ablation approaches to define ten new roles for Sertoli cells, revealing a previously unknown complexity in cell-cell interactions in the testis. Her current research focuses on understanding the mechanisms and regulations affecting the reproductive system, amongst which the androgen biosynthesis and in developing new approaches for potential therapies to benefit male health. She undertook administrative duties in 2018 at UON, taking a leadership role in establishing the Smith lab when it relocated from Edinburgh to Australia. During that time, she secured independent fundings such as Hunter Medical Research Institute grants (CIA), NHMRC Project Grant (CIB) and an Endocrine society of Australia Seed grant (CIA).
