Shihab Hameed
Dr Shihab Hameed is a Paediatric Endocrinolgist at Sydney Children's Hospital Randwick, and Head of Department of Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes at Royal North Shore Hospital. He is a Clinical Senior Lecurer at the University of Sydney, and Conjoint Senior Lecturer at UNSW. He has a strong research interest in the Endocrine Complications of Cystic Fibrosis, including in the clinical implications of early glycaemic abnormalities. He completed a Doctoral Thesis at the University of New South Wales in 2017 on “Monogenic and Cystic Fibrosis Related Diabetes in Childhood”. He is a Chief Investigator in the “CF-IDEA Trial”, a multi-centre randomised-controlled trial of early insulin treatment to prevent weight and lung function decline. He has co-authored the ISPAD guidelines on CFRD, and will be coauthoring the latest UpToDate guidelines on the management of CFRD and has significant clinical experience with the management of the endocrine sequelae of Cystic Fibrosis.
